AT THE DAWN OF YET ANOTHER AGE OF ABSURDITY: COMPOSITION NO. 4
Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb
2018
Immersive Composition, Site-specific Intervention
This work addresses the existential question of "coming home" and the construction of identity within geopolitical fragmentation, directly referencing the artist's experience of Yugoslavia's dissolution and the contemporary refugee crisis. Positioned as a direct response to global socio-economic ambivalence, the work calls for political commitment realized through alternatives that resist conventional "underground" positioning. The composition, which follows earlier solo iterations (Compositions No. 1, 2, & 3), maintains its core structure: ephemeral, gestural resistance realized through presence and language. The interventions are distributed across an eight-day performance, emphasizing immediacy as the medium and relevancy as the core mandate. The work explores the tension between limitless ego and necessary self-limitation, viewing internal rebellion as the essential act where destructive emotions are manifested and transformed into the poetic. The performance culminates in a "dance with gravity," asserting the power of collective energy against perpetual absurdity.
